David Walters
From Marseille, his home port, this globe-trotter now makes his electro-Creole vibrations and unique blends shine across all continents, mixing afrobeat and kompa, hip-hop and Caribbean traditions.
2020 saw the rise of David Walters’ “Soleil Kreyol,” his major musical comeback after several years devoted to television (“Les Nouveaux Explorateurs” on Canal+).
The album was voted Album of the Year by France Inter, Radio Nova, BBC6’s Gilles Peterson, Pan African Music, and more.
In 2021, the mood turned “Nocturne” with an intimate, nuanced collaboration of light and shadow alongside the magicians Vincent Ségal, Ballaké Sissoko, and Roger Raspail.
In 2022, David’s “Soleil Kréyol” rose again with an EP titled “Bow Down,” a nod to New Orleans, which he had already celebrated with his project “Nola is Calling” (2019).
2023 was the year of “Soul Tropical,” the latest album from the Caribbean singer and multi-instrumentalist, who has long been cultivating a hybrid sound between his roots and electronic production.
2026 will mark the release of “Ti Love,” a new album created with a team of producers from diverse backgrounds (Bluestaeb, Blundetto, Captain Planet, Art of Tones, Izem), supervised by Guts, which is expected to spread David’s musical radiance even further across the globe.
This new album resonates with the joyful, rhythmic, and danceable expression of a certain enlightened globality, dear to Édouard Glissant.
