Esperanza Spalding and the Smithsonian Museum

A day after finishing her last Chamber Music Society tour, Esperanza Spalding donated to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History the dress that she wore to the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony held in Oslo in 2009. The initiative of the Smithsonian aims top pay tribute to the women in jazz, and has become part of a larger historic collection which includes original sheet music of Thelonious Monk , Duke Ellington , one of Dizzy Gillespies' trumpets, among other music gems.
