July 7th will be the first anniversary of the passing of the great guitarist Manuel Galbán. In our memory we have his smile and great guitar playing, and also we share some joy with his last recording, Blue Cha Cha, an album produced by Juan Antonio Leyva and his daughter Rosa Magda Galbán and distributed by Concord Picante. The album encompasses an entrancing panorama of styles, ranging from the blues-accented title tune, featuring singer Eric Bibb, to ballads, a tango and a seductive reprise of his hit with Los Zafiros, the bouncy “Bossa Cubana,” recorded this time around with the Brazilian vocal group Trío Esperança.
