Videoclip for MOGOKAN feat. M.anifest OUT NOW
Fatoumata Diawara has today shared the video for ’MOGOKAN' feat. M.anifest, directed by Santiago Arouesty.
She explains: Friendship and brotherhood create special, some may say sacred, bonds between people. So, don’t let a simple gossip come between you. Whether we are in a romantic relationship or a marriage or even amongst our siblings, we need to overcome our differences and live in harmony. Let us not listen to wicked gossip and vile rumours.
’MOGOKAN' is taken from Fatoumata's latest critically acclaimed album ‘London Ko’, co-produced by Diawara, Damon Albarn and Daniel Florestano, out now through Wagram Music.
Fatoumata continues to reinvent traditional African music on ‘London Ko’, having taken us back to her Mandinka roots in recent projects such as Maliba and Le Vol du Boli with Abderrahmane Sissako. ‘London Ko’ features a host of guest musicians, including Damon Albarn, Angie Stone, Roberto Fonseca, M.anifest, Yemi Alade and -M-. Still rewriting the rules, Fatoumata plunges us back into her eclectic, avant-garde universe. With the different styles and approaches she brings to her music (afrobeat, jazz, pop, electro and even hip hop), ‘London Ko’ is an album that’s impossible to categorise.

Amadou & Mariam, Gothenburg gig review — Malian duo inspire love and frenzy
Mariam Doumbia and Amadou Bagayoko have been singing together for more than 40 years. As Amadou & Mariam, the blind husband-and-wife duo have become standard-bearers for Mali’s resilient music scene, adding elements of pop, dance, rock and blues to the folk stylings of their Bambara heritage. Since working with French-Spanish singer Manu Chao on their global breakthrough, 2004’s Dimanche à Bamako, they have collaborated with the likes of Damon Albarn and TV on the Radio. The sweetly singing Doumbia and gritty guitarist Bagayoko are on a worldwide tour in advance of the release of a compilation celebrating the past two decades of their career, La Vie Est Belle, due out in September. In front of 400 attendees at the converted warehouse Film Studios, as part of the Clandestino Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden, Amadou & Mariam gave a warm and jubilant concert that felt like an affirmation of their entwined lives and career.
