Alê Siqueira at the Pan-american Games Rio 2007

10/07/2008

Lyrics by Arnaldo Antunes and arrangements by Liminha, "Viva Essa Energia" was presented to the press the past 3rd of July at the cultural space Oi Futuro, in Rio de Janeiro. The Sports Secretary Orlando Silva Jr. took part of the event.

The song was interpreted by the same Arnaldo Antunes and the singer Ana Costa, "Viva Essa Energia", was one of the big moments of the Pan American's opening act, past July 13th at the Maracanã.

Besides of this song, two more hours of soundtrack were recorded for the act. The official CD of the Pan American Games will be released by the labels Som Livre and Caco Discos. It will also bring the hymn of the games and other 9 compositions. Over 200 musicians have participated on this project.

The official song is a mix of samba and funk from Rio de Janeiro and it counts with the talent of the integrants of the Beija-Flor's "Bateria", one of the main Rio's schools of samba. The idea of inviting Arnaldo and Ana to participate came from Ale Siqueira as he is in charge of the musical direction of the event.

"My idea was to surprise everyone. I could have invited a famous samba composer and a consecrated singer, but I preferred to invite Arnaldo, an artist that doesn´t have a strong connection with the samba and Ana, a voice that now becomes well-known." Ale explains.

The producer, requested Arnaldo to compose a strong refrain that could be easy to memorize and sing. It should unite the tradition and the rhythm of the samba with the irreverence of the funk from Rio de Janeiro.

Used to sing for a thousand people, Ana Costa is anxious for what will be the most important moment of her career: to face more than 80 thousand people in the Maracanã. It will be the perfect beginning for the great party of the Pan American Games.
