Ale Siqueira
Alê Siqueira was born in Sao Paulo, Brasil, in 1972, into a family of two generations of musicians. Something of a child prodigy, at just five years old he taught himself to play the guitar, and at the tender age of thirteen, after studying classical and electric guitar, as well as composition and conducting, he produced his first record (one of his father's). Alê studied at Sao Paolo's Instituto de Audio y Video, and became the youngest teacher at Sao Paolo University, Santa Marcelina, teaching Studio Technology and Production. Around that time he also made various experimental recordings, including a number of electro-acoustic creations. Being an important figure in the development of new-wave Brazilian digital music, combined with his sensitivity towards Brazilian roots music, put Alê in a position of great demand from an early age. He has produced numerous artists of note, including Elza Soares, Tom Zé, Carlinhos Brown, Margareth Menezes, Lenine, Zeca Baleiro, Chico César, Caetano Veloso, Bebel Gilberto, Paulinho da Viola, João Donato, Funk Como Le Gusta, Dj Dero, Timbalada, and Daniela Mercury. In 2003 he won a Latin Grammy as co-producer on the hugely popular Tribalistas album, which featured Carlinhos Brown, Marisa Monte and Arnaldo Antunes. Clearly illustrated on the Omara Portuondo album 'Flor De Amor' is ease with which Alê combines Brazilian and Cuban influences, not to mention the obvious chemistry between him and Omara. Inspired by the legendary Cuban singer, Alê stated, 'To my mind, Omara is one of the most amazing singers I have ever come across.'
